Powering XRX from an external source 4 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 1
Can XRX be powered by anything other than the cigarette-lighter adapter?

Yes. XRX can accept power from any DC source that outputs 10 to 40 V. External battery packs are available to power XRX for up to 22 hours. Also, XRX can be powered from a hard-wired power source, such as that from the avionics bus. If hard-wiring, make sure the plug is a 2.35mm barrel type, tip positive, providing between 10 and 40 VDC from a fused source, and that all FAA requirements are observed.

Hi,
Love the product and the support, especially this forum and all the great documentation.
So, just to clarify on the external power requirements before I plug something in that will fry my device. I have a Lithium Ion battery for my MacBook Pro that is rated: 14.5V~18.5V (4.5A Max) 150Wh. I'm not an electrical expert, but will this 1.) adequately power the XRX? 2.)not cause any damage? I do have the appropriate power plugs.

Thanks,
Jasec

That battery will be fine. We have no idea how long it should last since we didn't test that particular battery for performance, but it will work fine.

I bought the external battery, from Zaon, that power pack (BatteryGeek) keeps going and going. It holds almost full charge even after being unused for several months. It comes with several adapters, for powering alternate devices. I keep it in the aircraft as a contingency (or if my co-pilot needs to use the aircraft power plug).
