The top things to know about your XRX system:

1. Failure to set Aircraft Type can result in errors in bearing indication.
2. Improper positioning of XRX on the instrument panel can result in errors in bearing.The default startup mode is 3 NM and ±1500 feet. (Previous VRX users: this is a critical difference from the default you are accustomed to.)
3. XRX assumes you are on the ground when you turn it on. If you reset power in flight, you must climb or descend 200 feet to establish in-flight status again. Otherwise, traffic less than 200 feet above you and unlimited below your altitude will not be shown.
4. The compass may lag and may momentarily show traffic in opposite direction when starting a turn off a northern heading with bank angles greater than 15°.
5. In metallic aircraft, range may be reduced by up to 60% in the area directly behind the aircraft (±20°).
6. Bearing indication is dependent upon adequate intruder transponder activity. In areas of reduced coverage bearing may appear to lag.Compass errors greater than 20° means the compass needs calibration.
7. Traffic may change positions on the screen as time passes and the priority of each intruder changes.

Other important things to know:

1. XRX will not detect all aircraft, including aircraft with transponders turned off, or no transponder at all.
2. Become familiar with the realistic detection window.
