Do you know if it is possible to make the Garmin 496 display the loss of the RS232 data stream from the XRX unit?

I was flying today and the XRX lost power, due to a loose power connector on the back of the unit. As I approached a busy airport I didn't see any targets on the 496 screen. I finally figured out the XRX power problem and restarted the unit. It would be nice to know if the XRX wigs out on me.
