Firmware Updates

Firmware FAQ's

How do I get the latest update?

To update your unit, no matter which previous version you had, send your unit back to us for updating and recalibration. Call us at 1-800-496-9430 or contact us by email (see Contact Us page) for a quote and to receive an RMA number. No updates will be performed without prior authorization.

Why do I have to send my unit back?

Your PCAS unit is an extremely fine-tuned instrument. In order for your unit to give you the most accurate traffic information possible, new firmware updates often include minor calibration requirements to match the new code. Because of this, we have developed a reburn/recalibration process that is quick and accurate.

How much does a firmware update cost?

We charge a modest fee for firmware upgrades, which also covers the standard shipping to get your unit back to you. However, for XRX firmware upgrades to version 2.0 or higher, which includes compatibility with Garmin units, a hardware change is required, and the standard board replacement fee is charged. This also applies to all refurbished units with firmware version 1.9 or lower. Please call us at 1-800-496-9430 or contact us by email (see Contact Us page) for a quote.

What about bug fixes?

In the unlikely event that a firmware update is necessitated because of a "bug fix", the firmware updating will be performed free of charge while the unit is under warranty coverage.
