AvMap Integrates with Zaon PCAS For Increased Safety Print E-mail

April 2009 - AvMap Satellite Navigation today announced the integration of Zaon Flight System’s PCASTM XRXTM for use with their popular EKP-IV and GeoPilot II Plus (pictured to the right) aeronautical GPS navigators. PCAS (Portable Collision Avoidance System) is Zaon's solution for providing high-quality, low-cost traffic information to the general aviation pilot. “The affordable Zaon system makes it possible for general aviation and light-sport aircraft pilots to take advantage of stand-alone collision avoidance with target direction,” states Dan Lyons, AvMap Sales Manager.

AvMap Satellite Navigation today announced the integration of Zaon Flight System’s PCASTM XRXTM for use with their popular EKP-IV and GeoPilot II Plus aeronautical GPS navigators. A simple hookup of the PCAS XRX directly to the AvMap system provides traffic alerts, pop-ups, and the reliability and accuracy of XRX overlayed directly onto the GPS screen. A key benefit of the technology used by Zaon’s XRX is that it can provide traffic information via AvMap’s display anywhere in the world since it uses transponder replies (like TCAS) to determine azimuth and relative altitude.

“Untilnow, the cost of traffic systems has made it difficult for the general aviator to take advantage of this critical technology,” states Zane Hovey, founder of Zaon Flight Systems, Inc.  “We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work with AvMap to provide pilots with a cost-effective solution for complete situational awareness in a portable device,” Hovey adds.  XRX is the company’s flagship model, providing a complete picture in a simple, easy-to-use device.  Truly a "Plug and Go" device with a built-in antenna system and display, the unit requires no firmware upgrades.
