awm-unit.jpg logo-anywheremap.pngSee what you've been missing! Get traffic information on your Anywhere Map system straight from your XRX. Zaon and Anywhere Map have teamed up to provide highly-accurate traffic information for the Anywhere Map PDA and tablet-based moving map and weather systems.

bluetooth.gif Hooking up an XRX to your Anywhere Map is simple and easy. An available Bluetooth device enables your XRX to send traffic wirelessly to the Anywhere Map device. Or, a serial cable is available for devices that may not have an available Bluetooth channel.

What you see

awm-traffic.jpg
Increase your Traffic IQ

With an XRX system providing traffic, Anywhere Map displays traffic position information in the form of colored dots on a ring around your aircraft. The direction of the dot from your aircraft indicates where to look for the traffic.

awm-alert.jpg
Let's zoom in...

With a simple tap on the traffic ring, the screen zooms in to a 6 NM "XRX Mode" screen. Again, the traffic appears as dots positioned around you, but the traffic's relative altitude is also displayed in the dot. For example, an aircraft 400 feet above would be displayed as +04. The climb or descend trend is also displayed as either an up or down arrow.

The dots are also colored to give more at-a-glance information. A blue dot indicates traffic is above your altitude (blue = sky), a brown dot indicates the traffic is below (brown = ground), and a red dot indicates traffic is close enough to be a threat.

How to hook it up

Wireless Simplicity

To make hookup as painless as possible, a Bluetooth module is available from Zaon and Anywhere Map that sends XRX information wirelessly to any Bluetooth-enabled device, including PDAs and tablets.

Alternately, a connection can be made via a serial-to-USB cable, or a standard serial cable, depending on the particular platform on which the Anywhere Map software is running.

Requirements

These minimum requirements are needed to show traffic:

  • XRX with any version of software
  • Anywhere Map version 1.8 or higher, PDA or XP
  • Traffic Link Kit (contains Bluetooth module or appropriate serial connection, XRX Activation Code for Anywhere Map software)
NOTE: PDAs can only support two Bluetooth links simultaneously. Therefore if your GPS is wired and your XM unit is Bluetooth, then you can purchase the Bluetooth Traffic Link kit. However, if your GPS and XM unit are Bluetooth, you must purchase the Serial Traffic Link kit. PDA kits contain a new power harness with a single cig plug that has the proper number of power wires coming out of it to run each device (PDA, GPS, XM, XRX as applicable). The serial kit also eliminates the need for a separate power wire running to the XRX as Anywhere Map’s harness has one wire running to the XRX that supplies power AND data.
