PCAS XRX Compatibility Guide Print E-mail
XRX was designed to detect aircraft direction from inside the cockpit. Under normal circumstances, the unique design of the XRX allows the unit to detect aircraft with a clear 360° window of reception. However, it is important to note that in some aircraft, the pilot may experience limited reception from a particular direction. This is because different aircraft shapes and designs can present unique RF signatures. We have developed this Compatibility Guide to simulate the reception quality around each type of aircraft.

The following aircraft have been tested and profiled. We will continue to add to this list. However, if you do not see your aircraft listed below, please contact and submit your aircraft for review. Most reviews can be completed within 48 hours.

White Areas
Adequate coverage
A note about coverage

The amount of shadowing that may occur is but a tiny fraction of the airspace being monitored. Consider the typical mid-air example of one aircraft overtaking another. If the XRX is in the front aircraft, the rear aircraft may be allowed to approach closer than if there was no shadowing at all.

However, the effects of this shadowing are at distance, not at close range. If the XRX was in the rear (approaching) aircraft, the unit has an open view out the front to the other aircraft, and no shadowing would occur whatsoever.

Yellow Areas
Fringe areas of questionable coverage at far range (3NM+)
Red Areas
Questionable coverage at far range (3NM+)
